Local Area Networks are networks which are hard-wired. This means that they are connected to each other through physical wires.

Local Area Networks have a local scope, which means that they are meant to stay little (formed a small amount of computers).

Wireless LANs are known as WLANs and are exactly the same as LANs, but computers are connected to each other through wireless network cards.
